The holidays are one of my favorite times of the year, but when it was time to decorate the outside of our house, I didn’t want to decorate for just a few weeks. I wanted a look that would take us past Christmas and could be used all winter long.

As a foundation, I used faux mini unlit evergreen trees of varying heights in black pots to flank both sides of the front door. I put a few more trees in my existing planters as an end cap for the porch. I sprinkled in a few inexpensive black lanterns with battery-operated flameless tea lights to create the perfect winter wonderland feels, with or without snow.

Because I already filled the porch with faux mini pine trees, I wanted a wreath for the front door that would compliment the trees, but would make a statement on its own at the same time. I found a simple, unique wreath that would worked for inside and outside the house. With faux pine branches, brown and green magnolia leaves, and white berries, it was love at first sight, so I bought two to utilize my favorite easy, damage-free wreath hanging hack.
To complete the entranceway, I layered my neutral, modern everyday front door mat with a beautiful rug from the Humphrey Collection by Chris Loves Julia x Loloi. The different textures and patterns of the two rugs against the wood of the porch created one of my favorite details.

The front of our house has a large section of siding that creates a blank canvas. I always pictured I would hang a gigantic wreath to fill the space, but I didn’t want to compete with what I already did with the front porch. This put me on the hunt for a large-scale decoration to tie into my existing theme.
While browsing one of my favorite vintage shops, I found two wood and metal sleds. I knew three would be ideal and lucky for me, the store owner had more available.

Before deciding to use mini faux pine trees all over the front porch, I bought two simple faux evergreen wreaths I planned on using for the front door. Instead, we hung those wreaths on either side of the garage door of the newly transformed pole barn.

Christmas Additions
All the decorations we put out were winter neutral and realistically could be used from November – March. The decorations would have been perfectly fine by themselves, but I wanted to add a little more holiday spirit.
A few years ago, my best friend bought me an adorable grape vine owl dusted in gold glitter. While glitter is not my jam inside the house, I found a home for it at the end of the porch and loved the addition. On the small table between the chairs in the center of the porch, I swapped out my fall décor for a simple Noel sign.
I found a festive mat from Target that read “Good Tidings” and replaced our everyday mat with it as the finishing touch for a classic, cozy holiday welcome to our home.
