Maybe you have your own Fall bucket list or perhaps you’ve never thought about creating one. Either way, I hope my personal list of what I enjoy doing the most during my favorite season inspires you to do the same.

Behind the Build || Starting Over
After we sold our first house, we were planning to build another house just around the corner, but as logical as that plan was, there was just something that didn’t feel right.
More Than Just a House
It’s been years since Andy and I unexpectedly sold our dream house and stumbled across the perfect piece of property. In 2020, we decided on house plans and broke ground on our forever home. I wanted to share the entire process in real-time, but I quickly realized working full time, designing and building a house, and learning how to be a content creator at the same time was not feasible. Behind the scenes, I continued to learn while documenting the entire process and now that we have moved in and projects are on a smaller scale, I want to share with you where we started, our progress so far, what’s to come, and most importantly, what we’ve learned along the way.
The Holub House Spring Bucket List
To me, spring feels like the true beginning of the year. The snow disappears and new life in the trees and flowers begin to show up. It’s the season of growth and energizes me to want to do all the things.
Here’s just a few of my the must-dos on The Holub House spring bucket list.
It’s Not a Happy Mother’s Day for Everyone
For many, Mother’s Day isn’t necessarily a day of joy.
Personally, I’ve struggled with Mother’s Day for almost two decades and in going through old social media posts, I realized just how much I’ve battled with this day. Today, I’m once again trying to grapple with my feelings, but I was reminded by my past self that it’s okay not to be okay.
My hope is that in sharing these words, you too remember it’s okay not to be okay. It’s okay if you are still reeling from the pain of loss, disconnection, hurt, and everything in between.
But I also hope that while you are in those depths of darkness, you find a glimmer of light that guides you to better days.
Tried + True Pierogi Recipes
After testing a few different recipes, I found the perfect combination to make our family favorite pierogies: potato, sweet cheese, and blueberry
Winter Decorations that Last Beyond the Holidays
The holidays are one of my favorite times of the year, but when it was time to decorate the outside of our house, I didn’t want to decorate for just a few weeks. I wanted a look that would take us past Christmas and could be used all winter long.
Mood Board || Pantry
The first project of 2023 Andy and I are taking on is finishing our pantry! While I’d say it’s about halfway complete, not only am I ready for it to be completely functional (hello, storage!), but I also want it to finally look and feel the way I’ve always wanted.
How to Match Anything to Your Home Aesthetic
Thrifting or even taking inventory of pieces you already own is an affordable way to refresh your home. With a little paint and baking soda (optional), you and transform a cheap vase or something you already own into a brand-new piece of decor. Actually, you can try this hack with anything you want to give some new life to.
3 Ways to Transform Your Photos into Custom Art
I’ve talked before about how important designing our home with intention is to us. From function to aesthetics, we don’t want to make the same mistake we did with our first house and just buy stuff to have stuff. For that reason, we have taken our time decorating, really living in the space and get a sense of how we want it to look, room by room.
The same goes for the art we use. When it’s time to find art to use in our home, I don’t mind using store bought pieces if it’s something I genuinely like, but my favorite thing to do is to make art using my photos.
