While we only had three major project goals for 2024, it was still ambitious.
- Remove wall dividing office and great room
- Create new office space
- Build garage
But which one was my favorite? Hands down, removing the wall dividing my office and our great room.
After living in our house for over two years, it became apparent I did not need an entire room dedicated as an office and the room became more of a catch all storage mess than anything.
When we decided to build another house, our primary goal was to ensure every square foot was functional. Even if that meant tearing down a wall in our practically new house, we wanted to stay true to that goal.
By removing the wall, the space could be used more efficiently as a dining area and would also open up our main living space so that it didn’t feel like you were walking into a box when you walked through our front door.
The wall removal entailed tearing down the drywall, taking out the studs, moving the electrical, and patching the wood flooring and drywall.
It took the majority of the year, but the transformation is undeniable with the only regret being we didn’t do this in the first place.
